While browsing I came across Power and it immediately grabbed my attention. It’s the new book by famed photography Platon, who’s best known for his portraits of presidents and world figures. Needless to say the photography is amazing, but equally so is the book itself. I especially love the cover typography, straight and to the point in a documentation/archeologist style.

Lovelies is a concept brand developed by design student Lindsey Nichols. The intent of the brand is to communicate the idea of handmade and hand crafted. Her execution does this very well through the use of hand-stitching and collage all to focus on the idea of well-crafted pieces.

Great piece of work by Nada Design in Portugal

I’m not a comic book reader or anything but Strange Suspense: The Steve Ditko Archives Vol. 1 published by Fantagraphics Books caught my attention. I love the typography and the cover features iridescent metallic stamping.

I’m really loving this poster for it’s hand-drawn typography craziness. Kudos to Visual Armory for creating it and French Paper Sample Room for posting it.

Graphic Designer Ron Wan redesigned this classic children’s novel. It’s a nice surprise to see this contemporary approach to designing for children, not everything for kids needs to be bright colors and bubbly typography right? Yes, I agree.

Found this excellent excerpt from a larger menu redesign project for the famous Ivy in London by United Creatives.

Just came across this nice piece of work by Graphic Designer Lucy Hargrave. It’s a 2-color self sealing DVD mailer printed on a recycled, textured stock and constructed in a sustainable way.

Our exploration consisted of copy machines, found typography & wheat pasting, in contrast with businessman ephemera and flourish wallpaper from the 60’s era and an elegant yet simple color scheme.”

In addition to a strong creative foundation, Mini & Maximus are eco-minded that’s why their t-shirts are either 100% organic cotton or made of a unique blend of recycled polyester, organic cotton and naturally occurring rayon and are screen printed with water-soluble ink. The neck tags are printed on organic cotton fabric screened with water-soluble ink. Their hangtags are printed on recycled paper with water-based ink and our packaging is recycled paper grocery bags.

It’s summer, and most of this week I’ve been blogging summer related things I find interesting. While I tend to cover more edgy pieces of art, design, illustration and photography, today I’m feeling a little romantic and that’s why I’m sharing this hand-drawn nautical themed wedding invitations by the very talented Diane Faye Zerr of Faye + Co. WooFus is a brand of very limited handmade T-Shirts designed and created by a sole designer from Mainz Germany known as OOFUS. I love the organic look and feel and his use of color, the photography is pretty high end and fashion-esque in a tongue-in-cheek way.

I really appreciate the  these elegant package design for Grown Botanical Alchemy, a line of  organic skincare products. This typographical based work seems busy at first glance, but the layout and use of scale reflects the organic nature of the product itself.

The 9th issue of A5 Magazine looks to be quite interesting. This time around its dubbed the Remix issue — 77 artists from around the world present works inspired by music and their favorite songs. Underlapper ‘Softly Harboured’  — excellent piece of work from design to final printed piece.

Sopp took part in creating 5 different limited edition record covers for Underlapper’s new release ‘Softly Harboured’. The idea was to use a coherent production method for all of the covers in order to tie the different designs together as a series. They were printed as b&w offset with a silver scratchy overprint. The idea of interaction was explored through different ways of using the scratchy material.
